Catching Up
Teaching this summer was fun, but it put me really far behind schedule. So now I’m trying to catch up in time for the ISGB Gathering. Part of the Gathering is a bead show, and I’m going to have a table! That means I need a ton of beads. So I’ve been spending a lot of time at the torch. I’ve also been copper electroforming some of my beads!
Electroforming is a really cool process that uses electricity to coat your piece in selected places with metal. In my case I’m using copper, although the same thing can be done with silver or gold, if you have tons of money.
I got the kit from Tink, who is an amazing glass artist. The peice on the left is one of her amazing glass/electroform vessels. You can see more of her work on Etsy, although it tends to sell out fast. Eventually I’ll get Chris to take some pictures of my pieces. I have some catching up to do in that area too.
