Valentine’s Day and the Cuttlebug

Ok, I admit it. Valentine’s day is not my favorite holiday. Neither my hubby nor myself are especially romantic, and I get darned tired of hearing how wonderful other peoples’ spouses are. But I tried to get in the spirit this year, partly by playing with my new toy, the Cuttlebug! I know, it doesn’t look like much. But it embosses on paper and it die cuts. So far I had resisted both, because making raised designs on paper was a pain, and I was too cheap to buy a machine that just did die cutting. But the Cuttlebug makes both of them really easy.

So I set out to do some Valentine’s day cards. One for my mom, my mom-in-law, my sister, people like that. Let me just say that if you aren’t in the mood for a particular theme, trying to make things in that theme is just a bad idea. No matter how many toys or fancy techniques I threw at them, they just looked pittiful. So I switched to my fave holiday, Halloween, instead! This card uses black magic paper, metal hinges, the Cuttlebug for the house and bats, and mica powder with a versamark pen to finish it off so the moon looked fancier. As you can see, I should stick with things I like. :)
