I said I would show you my challenge piece, and here it is! The new thing for me was the herringbone tubes that make up the length of the bracelet. The pattern called for 6 of them, but I decided after making 1 that there were only going to be 2. Herringbone is not for me! In fact, this bracelet ended up being for a person with a small wrist because I didn’t make the tubes long enough for my wrist. I joined them with Swarovski crystals, and added a great costume jewelry button for even more bling. Whether you wear the crystals up or the buttons up, you will have sparkle!

Instead you get to see this neat-o black bracelet. I do like using hematite and black together. In this case I built it around this great black button I found in a costume shop. The hematite isn’t really the stone, it is drop beads. Actual hematite was way too heavy. This bracelet is quite light to wear.

As much as I adore how this bracelet worked out, I’m going to have to redo the clasp. The glass button I made is just a little too big for the hole. Drat! I used metal hex beads for this one. With so much color from those, I didn’t think it needed any extra embellishment. A while back I made a whole bunch of glass buttons, and I saved them for bracelets. That way when I pick out a metal bead (or other fun beads) I know I’m going to have a toggle that matches. Between the ones I made and the vintage ones my mom gave me, I’m set on buttons for ages!
